The 2014 Men's and Ladies Senior Club Championship was contested over two days with the first round played on the Blue to Red Course with the finals played on the Red and White Course.  The event took place on Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th.  Thanks to everyone who played and don't forget about the regular club championship on June 28th & 29th.

The 2013 Solheim Cup
Sunday, September 29th
 
A new event for the ladies this season, The Hamilton Elks Solheim Cup.  The event consisted of three separate nine hole formats, the first was a Better Ball of the twosome, the second was Modified Alternate Shot with the final nine being Singles Match Play.  The ladies event is a net, full handicap.  We would like to thank all of the ladies who battled the weather and played in this year's event.  Special thanks to Hilda Hodges and Sandy Roark for planning the event.  Here are the results:

The Blue Team started off the Better Ball Event winning three out of the first four matches with the Red Team halving the fifth and winning the sixth. 
 
Modified Alternate Shot - Net
Blue Team - 5 1/2 pts.
Red Team - 6 1/2 pts.
 
The Red Team stepped up their play and won the first three matches of the alternate shot, but Blue came back and won the final three matches 1 up. 
 
Singles Matches - Net
The Red Team started off strong winning the first 2 1/2 pts, but the Blue Team won the next 2 1/2 pts setting up for fantastic finish.  Wins by Kathy Monnier, Pat McKinney and JoAnn Bickel spurred the Red Team to a 2 pt. lead.  Wins by Nina Coyle, Judi Sears and a halve by Sue Chow brought the match to even with one group to finish.  The Solheim Cup came down to the last hole and final putt by Rosemary Haddad.  Congrats to the Red Team

2013 Ryder Cup
September 28th, 2013
 
The Ryder Cup is a 27 Hole Team Event where the Captains match up the teams in three different formats based on handicap indexes.  The first nine is a Better Ball of the Two, the second nine is a Modified Alternate shot and the final nine consists of single matches.  We would like to thank our Captains, Karl Karlstrom & Mike Basilone for their time and work putting together this event. 
 
The Red Team started out strong in the Best Ball Event capturing eight wins and two halves to take a nine to five lead early in the morning. 
 
1st Nine Results:    Red Team   9 pts.   Blue Team 5 pts.
 
The Blue Team put on the rally caps for the second nine and won five of the first nine matches and picked up on point. 
 
2nd Nine Results:   Red Team  15 1/2 pts.      Blue Team  12 1/2 pts.
 
Karl Karlstrom needed to put on the full court press and motivate the Blue Team for the final single matches.  The Blue Team started off strong and half way through the matches they had pulled within 1 1/2 points of the Red Team.  The final fourteen matches were controlled by the Red Team to secure the Ryder Cup for Captain Mike Basilone.
 
Final Results:   Red Team   32 1/2 pts.    Blue Team  23 1/2 pts.
